Audio problems continue, but now we know even more!
Question for audio people: we are seriously considering changing our setup in the near future. For now, we can record using Mal's computer, but we're interested in purchasing better equipment. We want to get a dedicated audio interface (something like the Focusrite Scarlett) and better mics (possibly the Shure SM-58's).
However, we're a bit scared - this 3.5mm to USB adapter produced the same sound. Would an audio interface like the Focusrite eliminate that? In my mind, USB is USB, so I assumed the adapter would remove the problem, but maybe how the computer sees and interprets that data depends on a variety of things? I just don't want to put down a lot of money and find out the problem still exists.
Any help you can offer is extremely appreciated! We're at the end of our ropes here.
